| DeLonghi ec155 Espresso Maker Best Prices |
The DeLonghi EC155 is generally seen as a middle level espresso machine as opposed to premium. This is clearly down to it's low price as when you look at the features in detail you soon realize that it has a lot of features normally only found on much higher priced machines.
What are the features that make it so good?
For starters the EC155 looks and feels like a professional espresso machine. Yes, it's ability make excellent coffee is paramount but as it is going to be a very visible kitchen or dining room appliance it's no bad thing that it looks so slick.
Power - 15 Bar
The pump driven mechanism in the EC155 is a professional level feature not normally found in espresso makers in this price band. Steam driven is the norm for makers at this level but not so with the 155. This limits the pressure levels they can apply and, as any professional barista knows high pressure is essential for making a perfect cup.
15 Bars of pressure is about professional barista entry level and is perfectly adequate for home users.
However the boiler is not brass as is the case in a lot of professional makers, it's stainless steel. That's hardly surprising though at the mid price level as to use brass would lift the price into a much higher bracket.
This is no problem though and you will be very happy with the results I'm sure. Basically the EC155 makes a lovely shot.
The main difference between steel and brass is the temperature control which isn't quite as consistent with steel, yet the machine is so well made that this is a very minor point that only the fussiest barista might pick up on in a blind taste test.
Innovation delivers smooth crema
The dual function filter holder in the EC155 is a big reason for this. This innovative function allows air in during brewing which delivers a superb crema.
You can make a lot!
A removable 35oz (1 litre) water tank lets you make a lot of coffee per run. And as it is removable cleaning up is easy and fast.
This is an important point to note as a lot of espresso maker owners get a bit slack with cleaning up calcium buildup as it is very annoying to clean out of machines with fixed tanks.
Fast cleaning
But as you will have a removable tank you should not fall into this trap. Simply take it off and pour in some baking soda and vinegar mix in and you will clean out any calcium carbonate in no time.
Pods for fast results
You can also use ESE pods (Easy Serving Espresso) with the EC155 which makes making your first great brews super easy and of course even if you get into using grounds pods are a great fallback when you need fast results.
You just pop one in and create you cup super quick, no need for any spooning. And dumping out afterwards could not be simpler, nearly no clean up required.
Get frothy
You'll also like the swivel jet frother. It lets you add lovely foamy top to your brews with ease.
A few users who prefer larger cups report that it and the spigot are too close to the countertop. Not an ideal situation but one you can solve easily.
Simply get a nice looking marble or wooden block that fits in with your decor and place the EC155 on top - No further problem and it looks great.
Should you get one?
So in summary, some very minor limitations in an expresso machine that makes very fine brews at a very low price for the high level features.
It makes great coffee every time and is ideal for all purpose home and entertaining use. Overall, when you buy a DeLonghi EC155 you can expect great coffee at a discount price, very impressive.
